How warm does it actually get?
Daily maximum temperature for 51 cities, each tied to the airport station it is measured at, built from five years of hourly observations. See how far a station usually climbs from the temperature it is showing right now, which forecast model is most accurate there, and what the aerodrome forecast says.
What you get for a station
The climb to peak
At 06:00 a station has most of its warming ahead of it; by 16:00 it usually does not. We hold the hourly distribution for every day of the year, so the page can say how much further this station typically climbs from the hour it is in now — and how often the peak is already behind it.
Which model to trust here
Seven forecast models scored against what the station actually recorded, per city. The best model is not the same everywhere: in a typical city the best and worst are 1.7°C apart, and 35 of 48 cities show a gap over a degree.
Wind regime
Which wind directions run warm or cold at this station, measured against its own day-of-year normal, by season. A southwesterly means something different in London than it does in Seoul.
The aerodrome forecast
The station's own TAF, decoded into plain language, including the forecast maximum where the issuing service publishes one.
Pro, when it exists
Everything here is free and stays free. Two things cost real money to build — an honest profit-and-loss leaderboard that accounts for people selling before resolution, and alerts when a station breaks from its own climatology. Those will sit behind a small subscription.
One message when it launches. Nothing else, ever, and your address is not shared or sold. Questions: hello@tempterminal.com
Where the numbers come from
Every figure traces to a public source, and the page says which. Station observations and climatology are Iowa Environmental Mesonet ASOS archives, which are public domain. Forecasts are Open-Meteo. Aerodrome forecasts are NOAA. 51 temperature markets across 46 airport stations. 46 settle on the day's maximum temperature; the other 5 settle on its minimum and share a station with their maximum twin. Of the 51, 51 have enough scored history to rank forecast models. Rebuilt every thirty minutes.
